Herford, Germany | 2024 – T+A MP 2500 R G3: The Multi Source SACD Player.
The MP 2500 R G3 stands as one of the most meticulously crafted multi-source players ever conceived by T+A. While it shares its conceptual and technological lineage with the MP 2000 R, this device elevates the experience of high-resolution audio to new heights. Replacing the CD drive with a high-end SACD mechanism, the MP 2500 R G3 offers an even more refined rendition of this timeless medium. Coupled with an array of external SP-DIF devices, a high-performance tuner featuring FM/FM-HD, DAB+, and Internet radio, alongside the latest streaming services and connect functionalities like Apple AirPlay 2, the MP 2500 R G3 becomes the heart of any music system—a centrepiece whose prowess is matched only by its understated elegance.
At the core of this masterpiece lies our globally celebrated Path Separation Technology, a concept as simple as it is profound: each format deserves a processing path tailored precisely to its unique characteristics. To that end, dedicated converters stand ready for every relevant format: PCM signals up to 384 kSps are rendered through our T+A True 1-Bit Converter, while DSD files up to DSD 512 are transformed into analogue splendour.
It is through this meticulous separation of signal paths that the true potential of each format is unlocked, bringing to life our unwavering belief: the pursuit of the highest possible playback quality, guided by scientific rigor.
For us, true quality transcends mere technical excellence; it is the art of eradicating even the faintest disturbances that might mar the purity of sound. To this end, our T+A DASS (Digital Analogue Separation System) represents years of dedicated development, a system that ensures digital and analogue circuits remain completely isolated, preventing interference before it can take root. The signal then flows through an ultra-wide bandwidth analogue output stage, travelling the shortest possible path to balanced (XLR) or unbalanced (RCA) output terminals, preserving its pristine integrity.
In our vision, convenience and high performance are not opposing forces but rather two sides of the same coin. Therefore, the MP 2500 R G3 comes with the SRC 2 system remote as a standard feature, offering effortless control. For those who prefer digital convenience, the T+A MusicNavigator G3 app, available in all app stores, serves as an intuitive command centre for the MP 2500 R G3 and any connected amplifiers within the T+A R-series.
Audiophile Streaming Architecture G3
Our Audiophile Streaming Architecture (ASA) of the third generation is the audiophile connection of the MP 2500 R G3 to the connected world. The focus of its development was on maximizing sonic potentials and source diversity. Therefore, its network boards process incoming WLAN, LAN, and USB master mode signals, allowing the MP 2500 R G3 to access not only streaming services like Deezer, Qobuz, and Tidal but also local network files up to 384/32 (HD) as well as incoming streams from mobile devices via Connect or AirPlay services in audiophile quality. In addition to convenient Connect services, the MP 2500 R G3 also offers the option to play uncompressed Flac files via aptX Bluetooth technology. For the first time in T+A’s history, the ASA G3 is capable of playing DSD files natively from the network. For the highest quality playback, this stream is passed on to the T+A True-1Bit converter, which processes DSD files in their native bitstream without any loss of quality.
De-Jitter Masterclocking
Jitter is one of the most severe problems, and is generated in the source device – especially in computers – and at the data transfer point between source and converter. For high-quality reproduction all traces of jitter must be removed from the data before the information is converted into analogue signals by the DAC. That is why we have developed a unique two-stage process for clock generation (jitter elimination): in the first stage the received data are processed and decoded. In this stage a basic clock is extracted from the received data stream, which undergoes an initial cleaning process in a PLL circuit aimed at removing coarse jitter generated by the source device and the transfer. This clock is now analysed extremely intensively by the micro-processor. If it fulfils certain minimum criteria in respect of frequency and stability, the D/A converters are switched to an internally generated, extremely precise Master Clock with extremely low phase noise. This clock is completely isolated from the source device, and therefore carries no trace of the jitter interference from the source and the transfer link.
